It has been almost 5 years since GFE Clan started using the Teamspeak VOIP software for clan communication. It has brought our clan a quality like no other with logs stacking over 1 million lines of data.
TeamSpeak 3 (TS3) has been released. It's just a beta, but considering how long we've had to live with TS2, a beta is still big news! There's so much traffic to their site right now that they've simply got a temporary holding page up.
TeamSpeak is a 'voice communication' program (or 'voice comms') most often used for online games. It's like a bunch of chat rooms, all connected together, but the primary form of communication is voice. At its most basic, it's like a conference call, but with lots of fun things you can do -- like making private channels, or muting specific people.
TS3 New Features: •Voice Quality and Latency with more codecs; now support the latest Speex and CELT codecs and provides automatic microphone adjustment, advanced noise reduction, and echo cancelation. • Fully integrated 3D sound support, this creates the illusion of a sound source being placed anywhere in three dimensional space •Permission System that allowing the client to create custom user groups. •Talk Power we can now configure a Minimum Talk Power variable for each channel. •Sub-Channels with them own passwords. •Tabbed Voice-Comming allow you to connect to multiple TS3 servers at once. •Bookmarks that allowed the users store his preferred servers as bookmarks on IE & etc... •Avatars now we can configure an avatar which will be displayed when people click on your name. •Key Bindings the client will allow the user to set his own key bindings such as: push-to-mute/talk etc...). •Text Messaging with BB code tags to emphasize certain words or phrases by making them e.g. bold or italic. •URL Catcher which is used to store URLs mentioned during a chat. like on mIRC. •Per Server Capture and Playback Devices This new feature allows you to do some really cool things like hook up two USB headsets to your computer etc... •Sound Packs its means that anyone will be able to create his own soundpack and share it with other users easily. •Translations Both server and client will be UTF-8 native so all languages can be supported. • The Server Query interface can be switched into an interactive mode which gives you the ability to use the up/down cursor keys for cycling between the last given commands. •Web Administration Interface will not be part of the server. Instead it will consist of a PHP-based web application, which can handle multiple virtual servers and server instances at once. •Database Plugin System Developers can now write their own plugin for a completely proprietary database if they so desire.

Server update - Far Cry servers moved to a new machine. Told them to kick it into action. Should be online as soon as they get my email. Hopefully all sorted now.
